Toilet Plumbers
The Toilet That Never Quite Stops Running
You flush it, walk away, and an hour later it is still trickling. Or it rocks slightly when you sit on it. Or there is a damp patch at the base that keeps coming back no matter how often somebody mops it up. None of it stops the toilet working, so it stays on the list for months.
A running toilet is the most expensive small fault in the house. Water passing an inlet valve or a worn outlet seal runs continuously and quietly, and it goes straight through your meter. It is the single most common cause we see of a water bill that has jumped for no obvious reason, and it costs a few dollars in parts to fix.
The other faults are less about money and more about what they turn into. A pan that rocks is working the wax or rubber seal underneath it, and once that seal fails you have waste water getting into the floor rather than the drain. A cistern that keeps refilling is usually a five minute part. A pan that has cracked is not, and we will tell you which one you have before you spend anything.
Every job is quoted as one fixed figure before we start. There is no call-out fee*, no hourly rate ticking over while we diagnose, and no weekend loading. Our plumbers are QBCC licensed under 15578913, with more than ten years in the trade behind the work, and everything we install or repair carries our Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee.
Most toilet repairs are finished in the same visit because the vans carry the common inlet and outlet valves, seals and buttons. Where the blockage is further down the line rather than in the pan, we will say so and move into clearing the drain instead of repeatedly plunging a toilet that was never the problem.
Toilet work gets complicated in older houses and in units. Brisbane homes built before the current standards often have an S-trap set into the slab at a spacing no modern pan matches, so a like-for-like replacement is not always possible without adjusting the set-out. We check that before quoting rather than discovering it with the old pan already lifted.
Units and townhouses bring the shared-isolation problem. Shutting the water down to change a cistern can affect more than your bathroom, so it sometimes needs arranging with a body corporate first. We handle that as part of the job. If the toilet is one item on a longer list, our general plumbing visits are built for exactly that.
Types of Toilet Work We Take On
Toilet jobs split into a handful of types, and knowing which one you are looking at is what makes the price make sense. These are the six we get called out for most.
Close-Coupled Suites
The common cistern-on-pan setup in most Brisbane homes. Valves, seals and buttons are all replaceable parts.
Wall-Faced Pans
Pans that sit flush to the wall. Neater to look at and fussier to set out when one needs replacing.
In-Wall Cisterns
Concealed cisterns behind a stud wall. Serviceable through the button plate without opening the wall up.
Older S-Trap Pans
Set into the slab at spacings no modern pan matches. Replacement often means adjusting the set-out.
Accessible Toilets
Higher pans and grab-rail compatible suites for homes where getting up and down is the priority.
Commercial Toilets
Cafes, offices and shops where a toilet out of action stops trade. Booked around your opening hours.
Our Toilet Repair Services
Honest quotes, a fast response, and workmanship guaranteed for life. Three promises, one licensed local team.
Most toilet calls land in one of six jobs, and between them they cover almost everything a Brisbane home or business throws at us. Whether it is a running cistern or a full replacement suite, you get the same licensed team and the same fixed-price approach each time.
Toilet Repairs
Running cisterns, weak flushes, loose seats and pans that rock. The everyday fixes, usually done same visit.
Cistern Valve Replacement
Inlet and outlet valves that have started passing water. The most common repair we do on a toilet.
Pan Reseal and Refix
Rocking pans lifted, reseated on a new seal and fixed down properly so the seal below stops working loose.
Toilet Replacement
New suites supplied and fitted, matched to your existing set-out and connections wherever possible.
Blocked Toilets
Cleared properly, then checked to find whether the blockage was in the pan or further down the line.
Emergency Toilet Callouts
One toilet in the house and it has stopped working. Same-day service guaranteed, or you get $65 off.

Signs Your Toilet Needs Attention
Toilets warn you clearly, but the warnings are quiet and easy to live with. Most people only act when the pan blocks or the floor gets wet. These are the ones worth acting on well before that point.
- A cistern that keeps refilling
- A trickle into the pan
- A pan that rocks
- Damp at the base
- A weak or slow flush
- A water bill that jumped
- Blocking more than it used to
Most of that list is under an hour of work if you catch it early. Leave a rocking pan and the seal below it fails, which means waste water in the floor rather than the drain and a much bigger repair. If the toilet is blocking regularly rather than leaking, the problem is usually further down the line and worth a look inside the drain before anything else.
Common Toilet Faults and What Causes Them
The signs above are what you notice. These are the faults behind them. Knowing the cause is what tells you whether the toilet needs a small part or a full replacement.
Failed Inlet Valves
The valve that refills the cistern stops shutting off cleanly, so water trickles in continuously.
Perished Outlet Seals
The rubber seal at the base of the cistern hardens, letting water pass into the pan around the clock.
Failed Pan Seal
The seal between pan and drain gives way, usually after months of a loose pan rocking on it.
Wet Wipes and Objects
Wipes labelled flushable do not break down. The most common cause of blocked pans we get called to.
Cracked Pan or Cistern
Hairline cracks in the ceramic weep slowly and cannot be repaired. Replacement is the only honest answer.
Roots in the Sewer Line
A toilet that blocks repeatedly despite being clear is usually telling you about the drain, not the pan.
Stop the Next Toilet Callout Before It Starts
Most toilet failures are wear rather than bad luck. Inlet and outlet valves have a service life measured in years, and replacing one before it starts passing water costs a fraction of the water it will waste. The other easy win is what goes down it. Wet wipes labelled flushable are the single most common cause of blocked pans we attend, and they do not break down the way toilet paper does.
Homes, Rentals and Business Sites
We work for owners, tenants, property managers and business operators. Owners want to know whether to repair or replace. Property managers want it booked, done and invoiced without three phone calls. Business sites cannot have a toilet out of service during trade. You get the same licensed team and the same written price whichever one you are.

Why Choose Us
Why Brisbane Keeps Our Number on the Fridge
Ten years and more of everyday plumbing has taught us that people want three things: a price they can trust, someone who turns up, and work that lasts. That does not change because the job is a cistern washer.

Same-day service is guaranteed. Miss that window and $65 comes off the bill, so the promise costs us and not you.

You approve one written figure before we start. No hourly rate running while we diagnose, and nothing added on for a Saturday.
QBCC Licensed Plumbers
Licence 15578913 sits behind every job, and more than twenty years of trade experience sits behind the licence. Nothing goes unrecorded.
Guaranteed for Life
The Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee covers what we install and repair. If it lets go later, we come back and make it right.

FAQs
Toilet Questions, Answered Plainly
Below are the things people ask us before booking toilet work. Short answers, no sales pitch.
Why does my toilet keep running after I flush?
Almost always the inlet valve or the outlet seal. The inlet valve is what shuts the water off once the cistern is full, and the outlet seal is what stops water passing from the cistern into the pan. Both are wear parts, both are inexpensive, and both are usually replaced inside the same visit because the vans carry the common types.
Is a running toilet actually costing me much?
Yes, more than most people expect. Water passing a failed seal runs continuously, day and night, and every litre goes through your meter. It is the most common explanation we find for a water bill that has jumped with no change in the household. The repair is one of the cheapest we do.
Can you repair my toilet or does it need replacing?
Repair, in most cases. Valves, seals, buttons and seats are all replaceable, and a sound ceramic pan and cistern will outlast several sets of internals. Replacement is the honest answer when the ceramic itself is cracked, or when the suite is old enough that parts are no longer made. You get both options and a recommendation.
My toilet rocks slightly. Does that matter?
Yes, and it is worth acting on early. Every movement works the seal between the pan and the drain. Once that seal fails, waste water goes into the floor rather than the drain, which is a far bigger repair than refixing a loose pan. Catching it while it is only a wobble keeps it cheap.
Can I fit any new toilet to my existing pipework?
Not always, and this is the one that catches people out. Older Brisbane homes often have the drain set into the slab at a spacing modern pans do not match. Sometimes an offset connector solves it, sometimes the set-out has to change. We check this before quoting rather than after the old pan is out.
Why does my toilet keep blocking?
If it clears and then blocks again within weeks, the pan is probably not the problem. Repeated blockages usually point to something in the sewer line beyond it, most often tree roots or a section of pipe that has cracked or dropped. A camera down the line answers it properly rather than plunging the same toilet every month.
Is there a call-out fee for toilet work?
No. There is no call-out fee*, so nothing is charged simply for turning up and looking at the toilet. You get a written price before any work starts, that price is what you pay, and there are no weekend rates.
Not sure if it needs a repair or a new toilet?
Call and describe what it is doing. Our team will tell you whether it is a valve, a seal or a replacement, and roughly what each one involves, before you book anything.
