Shower Sealing Brisbane, No Re-Tile
A leaking shower does not always need a full retile. We seal, regrout and repair, priced up front and booked the same day.
Shower Sealing
The Leak That Shows Up in the Next Room
A stain on the hallway wall that happens to share a wall with the shower. A skirting board that has started to lift. Carpet outside the bathroom that never quite dries. The shower itself looks perfectly fine, which is exactly why it takes so long for anyone to work out where the water is coming from.
Showers leak at the joins, not through the tiles. Water gets past the silicone in the corners, past a cracked grout line, or under a screen that was sealed on the wrong side, and then it sits in the bed underneath. From there it travels along the slab or the bearers until it surfaces somewhere that looks completely unrelated to the bathroom.
The good news is that most of these do not need the bathroom pulled apart. Regrouting and resealing properly, with the old silicone cut out rather than smeared over, fixes a large share of them. Where the waterproof membrane below has genuinely failed, there are sealing systems that work from the surface down and save you a full retile.
We tell you which one you are looking at before you commit to anything. Every job is quoted as one fixed figure, with no call-out fee* and no hourly rate running while we investigate. Our plumbers are QBCC licensed under 15578913, and the work carries our Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee.
If the water is not coming from the shower at all, we will find that too. A weeping mixer body or a failed waste can look identical from the hallway, and both are worth ruling out before anyone starts cutting silicone. Where the source is genuinely hidden, we move to leak detection rather than guessing.
Timing matters more on shower sealing than on most jobs. Silicone needs a genuinely dry substrate to bond to, so a shower in daily use often needs to be out of service for a day or so before and after the work. We tell you that at the quote rather than on the day.
Older Brisbane bathrooms bring the other complication. Shower bases bedded straight onto timber, screens fixed through the waterproofing, and grout that has been painted over more than once all change what the job actually involves. Where the bathroom is part of a bigger renovation, it usually makes sense to fold the sealing in with the rest of the plumbing rather than treat it as a separate visit.
Shower Sealing Options We Offer
Not every leaking shower needs the same fix, and the difference between them is significant. These are the six approaches we use, from a half-day reseal through to the jobs that genuinely need the tiles off.
Reseal and Regrout
Old silicone cut out, joints cleaned back and resealed. The fix for a large share of leaking showers.
Grout Line Repair
Cracked and missing grout raked out and replaced, closing the path water uses to get into the bed.
Surface Sealing Systems
Clear sealers that soak into the grout and set below the surface, used where tiles are sound but porous.
Shower Screen Reseal
Screens resealed on the correct side so water runs back into the shower rather than under the frame.
Waste and Drain Reseal
The floor waste collar and its junction with the membrane, a common leak point that gets missed.
When a Retile Wins
Where the membrane has failed across the floor we say so. Sealing over a dead membrane only buys months.
Our Shower Sealing Services
Honest quotes, a fast response, and workmanship guaranteed for life. Three promises, one licensed local team.
Six jobs cover almost every leaking shower we are called to across Brisbane. Some are a morning of work and some need the bathroom out of action for a couple of days, and you will know which one you have before we start.
Leaking Shower Repairs
The whole job, from finding where the water gets out to sealing it and proving it has stopped.
Silicone Replacement
Perished, mouldy or lifting silicone removed properly and replaced, not simply covered over.
Regrouting
Full or spot regrouting where the existing grout has cracked, crumbled or been painted over.
Shower Waterproofing
Surface-applied waterproofing for showers where the original membrane is losing the fight.
Leak Testing
Flood and spray testing so you can see the leak has stopped before we invoice you.
Mould Treatment
Treating mould in and behind the joint so the new silicone is not sealing a problem underneath it.

Signs Your Shower Is Leaking
A leaking shower rarely announces itself inside the shower. It shows up in the room next door, in the hallway, or in a smell you cannot quite place. These are the ones worth acting on before the timber underneath gives up.
- Stains on the adjoining wall
- Skirting boards lifting or swelling
- Damp carpet outside the bathroom
- Grout that is cracked or missing
- Silicone lifting at the corners
- A musty smell near the bathroom
- Loose or drummy floor tiles
Caught early, a leaking shower is a reseal. Left long enough, water sitting in the bed rots the framing and lifts the floor, and then the tiles come up regardless. If the damp is showing well away from the bathroom, the shower may not be the culprit and a pipe behind the wall is worth ruling out.
What Actually Makes a Shower Leak
The signs above are what you notice. These are the faults behind them. Knowing which one you have is what decides whether this is a morning of work or a bathroom renovation.
Perished Silicone
Silicone has a service life. Once it hardens and pulls away from the joint, water goes straight past.
Cracked Grout
Grout is not waterproof, but cracked grout lets far more water into the bed than sound grout does.
Failed Membrane
The waterproof layer under the tiles has split, or was never lapped properly at the corners.
Movement in the Frame
Timber floors flex, and that movement opens the joint between the wall and the base every time.
Screens Sealed Outside
A screen siliconed on the outer face traps water in the channel instead of draining it back in.
Blocked Weep Holes
Weep holes in the floor waste let trapped water escape. Blocked with grout, the bed stays wet.
Stop the Next Shower Leak Before It Starts
Most shower leaks are maintenance that got skipped. Silicone in a shower used daily has a life measured in years rather than decades, and replacing it before it hardens costs a fraction of repairing water damage behind a wall. Running the exhaust fan long enough to actually dry the room does more than most people expect, because silicone fails faster in a bathroom that never dries out.
Homes, Rentals and Business Sites
We work for owners, tenants, property managers and business operators. Owners want to know whether this is a reseal or a renovation. Property managers want it diagnosed properly before it turns into a damage claim. Business sites want it done outside trading hours. You get the same licensed team and the same written price whichever one you are.
How a Shower Sealing Job Runs
Six steps, whether it is a straightforward reseal or a shower that needs testing before anyone commits to a fix. You will know what is happening and what it costs before we start.
1. You Call

2. We Find the Source
We check the joints, the screen, the waste and the mixer before deciding the shower is even the cause.
3. Fixed Price in Writing
One written figure, with reseal and retile priced separately if both are genuinely on the table.
4. We Prepare the Joints
Old silicone cut out, grout raked back, mould treated and everything dried before new product goes on.
5. Seal and Cure
New silicone and sealer applied, then left to cure. We tell you exactly when the shower can be used.
6. Test and Guarantee
Flood tested so you can see it is fixed, with the Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee against the job.

FAQs
Shower Sealing Questions, Answered Plainly
Below are the things people ask us before booking shower work. Short answers, no sales pitch.
Can you fix a leaking shower without retiling?
In most cases yes. The majority of leaking showers we attend are leaking at the silicone joints, the grout or the waste collar, and all three can be repaired from the surface. A full retile is only genuinely necessary when the waterproof membrane under the tiles has failed across the floor. We tell you which one you have before you commit to anything.
How long does a shower reseal take?
The work itself is usually a few hours. The bigger constraint is drying and curing. The shower generally needs to be dry before we start and left unused for around twenty four hours afterwards so the silicone cures properly. We will give you the exact timing for your job when we quote it.
How do I know the leak is the shower and not a pipe?
You often cannot tell from the stain alone, which is why we check before we quote. A weeping mixer body, a failed waste or a pipe inside the wall can all produce damp in the same spot. We rule those out first rather than resealing a shower that was never the problem.
Will resealing get rid of the black mould?
The visible mould in the joint comes out with the old silicone. Mould that has grown behind the joint is treated before the new silicone goes on, because sealing over it simply traps it. If mould keeps returning after a proper reseal, the room is not drying out and the exhaust fan is usually the reason.
Is a leaking shower covered by insurance?
That depends on your policy and the cause. Sudden damage is treated very differently to gradual deterioration, and shower leaks often fall into the second category. We can document what we find and what caused it, which is what an insurer will ask for, but the decision sits with them rather than us.
Do you guarantee shower sealing work?
Yes. Shower sealing carries the same Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee as everything else we do. If our sealing work lets go, we come back and put it right. That guarantee covers our workmanship, not a membrane that was already failing before we arrived, and we will tell you at the quote if that is what you have.
Is there a call-out fee for shower work?
No. There is no call-out fee*, so nothing is charged simply for coming out and looking at the shower. You get a written price before any work starts, that price is what you pay, and there are no weekend rates.
Not sure if it is the shower or a pipe?
Call and describe where the damp is showing up. Our team will tell you what is most likely causing it and what checking it involves, before you book anything.
