Pipe Relining
Fix the Drain, Keep Your Driveway Intact
A drain that blocks every few months is usually not a blockage problem. It is a pipe problem. Somewhere under the lawn a root has found a hairline crack at a joint, or a length of old earthenware has dropped out of line, and every clear you pay for buys you a few more weeks before the same thing happens again.
Pipe relining fixes the pipe instead of the symptom, and it does it without opening the ground above. A resin-saturated liner is fed into the damaged section through an existing access point, pressed hard against the old pipe wall and cured in place, leaving a new jointless pipe formed inside the old one. In Australia the process is covered by AS/NZS 3500.2:2018, which calls up the WMTS-518 specification for the materials and the workmanship. It is a standard with real numbers in it, not a patch-and-hope product, and those numbers are the difference between a liner that lasts and one that wrinkles and catches waste.
We start with the camera. Before anyone quotes you a metre rate, we run a CCTV inspection down the line and you watch it with us, and that inspection is free. Sometimes the footage shows a sound pipe and a grease or wet-wipe habit, in which case what you need is a professional blocked drain plumber in Brisbane and not a reline. We would rather tell you that on the first visit than sell you a liner you did not need.
Where relining is the right call, you get one upfront fixed price covering the clean, the liner and the reinstatement, with a $0 call-out fee* to get us there and no weekend surcharge if the line lets go on a Sunday night. Every job is done by a QBCC licensed plumber, licence 15578913, with 20+ years of Brisbane drains behind it, and the workmanship carries our Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee.
A licensed local team, a price agreed before the first cut, and a drain you can stop thinking about.
No two relining jobs sit in the same ground. A line running under a concrete driveway, a pool surround or a tiled patio is exactly where relining earns its keep, because the alternative is cutting all of that out and relaying it. Older Brisbane properties bring earthenware and vitrified clay laid in short lengths with a joint at every one, which is where roots get in. Newer estates bring PVC cracked by settlement, or by somebody else’s excavator.
Units, townhouses and commercial sites add a second question, namely who authorises the work. On a shared line the body corporate usually signs off before anyone starts. Ownership matters at the street too: Urban Utilities is responsible for the infrastructure outside your property boundary, and you are responsible for everything inside it. If the pipe turns out to be intact and water is going missing somewhere else on the block, that is non-invasive leak detection in Brisbane rather than a relining job.
Relining & Repair Methods We Use
There is more than one way to rebuild a damaged drain, and the right one depends on how much of the pipe has gone and where the damage sits. Here is what we use and when each one earns its place.
Full-Length Liner
One continuous liner from one access point to the next, for a pipe that is cracked or root-damaged along most of its run.
Sectional Patch Repair
For damage in one spot. The liner must extend at least 400 mm past the fault both ways, 800 mm minimum overall.
Junction Repairs
Where a branch line meets the main. If a junction sits inside the repair, every arm of it has to be lined too.
Structural Liners
Where the old pipe can no longer hold its shape, the liner carries the ground load itself instead of just sealing the surface.
Stormwater Relining
Not just sewer. Cracked stormwater and downpipe lines get the same treatment, which matters on a Brisbane block in a wet summer.
When Digging Wins
A fully collapsed pipe, a bad sag, or no access point. We say so and quote the dig instead of a liner.
Our Pipe Relining Services
Quoted honestly, answered fast, and guaranteed for as long as that pipe is in the ground.
Relining is one part of a bigger job. Getting there means finding the fault, proving what caused it and clearing the line first, and finishing means testing the finished pipe and showing you the footage. These six things cover the whole of it, done by the same licensed team from the first camera run to the last.
CCTV Drain Inspection
We camera the line before quoting anything, so you see the crack, the root or the sag for yourself. The inspection is free.
Drain Locating
We mark the depth and path of the pipe on the surface, so nobody guesses where it runs or what sits above it.
Root Cutting & Jetting
High-pressure water and cutting heads clear roots, scale and build-up back to bare pipe wall, which is what a liner needs.
Liner Installation
The liner goes in through an existing access point, is inflated against the old pipe wall and cured hard in place.
Junction Reinstatement
After a liner passes a branch, the opening is cut back out and finished so the branch drains properly again.
Post-Reline Camera Check
We run the camera back through the finished pipe and give you the footage, so the result is on record, not just described.

Signs Your Drain Pipe Has Failed
A pipe that is cracked or root-invaded gives you months of warning before it collapses, but the warnings look like ordinary blockages, so most people keep clearing instead of fixing. Here is what points at the pipe itself rather than at whatever happened to go down it.
- Repeat blockages in one line
- Gurgling toilets or slow drains
- Sewage smell in the yard
- A green patch above the pipe
- Sunken ground or cracked paving
- Roots pulled out every clear
- Water backing up in rain
When several of those show up at once, the problem is the pipe and not what went into it. Get a camera down the line while you still have a choice between a liner and a dig, because a collapsed pipe takes that choice away. Relining is one of our full range of plumbing and gas services.
What Actually Goes Wrong Inside the Pipe
Symptoms are one thing, causes are another. Six faults account for most of the lines we reline across Brisbane, and knowing which one you have is what decides whether a patch will do or the whole run needs lining.
Root Intrusion
Fine roots find a weeping joint, then thicken inside the pipe. Common where old earthenware runs near a fig, gum or bamboo.
Cracked & Fractured Pipe
Ground movement in reactive Brisbane clay, or traffic load over a shallow line, splits the pipe wall and lets soil and water in.
Displaced Joints
Two lengths of pipe pull apart at the socket as the ground shifts, leaving a step that catches paper and grease every time.
Back-Fall & Sagging
A section laid or settled the wrong way holds water instead of draining it. Lining seals it but will not fix the grade.
Corroded Cast Iron
Old cast iron rusts and scales from the inside until the bore narrows. Very common in inner Brisbane houses and older commercial buildings.
Collapsed Sections
Years of cracking end with the wall caving in. Nothing left to line against, so that one is a dig and a replacement.
Make This the Last Repair You Need
A lined pipe is smooth-walled and jointless through the repaired section, which is exactly why roots stop getting in. What still matters is what goes down it. Fat, wet wipes and coffee grounds will build up in a new pipe as happily as an old one. Where you plant a tree matters too.
Relining for Homes & Commercial Sites
A house drain and a shopping centre stormwater line are the same job at different scale. On a home we work around one household and keep disruption to the access point. On a cafe, a factory or a strata block we plan around trading hours and shared access so the line stays usable while the liner cures.
How a Pipe Relining Job Runs
Relining sounds like a mystery until you see the order it happens in. Six steps, and you know the price before step four. Nothing gets cut, cleared or lined until you have agreed to it in writing.
1. You Call
Tell us what the drain is doing and how often. You get straight through to our team and a real arrival window.
2. We Camera the Line
The CCTV inspection goes in first and you watch it with us. That is the free part, and it decides everything else.
3. Fixed Price in Writing
The length, the method and one price, on paper. The call-out that got us there is $0*.
4. We Prepare the Pipe
Roots, scale and debris come out and the pipe wall is cleaned back, because a liner only bonds to a clean host.
5. Liner In & Cured
The resin liner is set in position, inflated against the old pipe and left to cure hard before anything is reopened.
6. Camera Check & Guarantee
We film the finished pipe, hand you the footage, tidy the site and back the workmanship with our Lifetime Workmanship Guarantee.

FAQs
Pipe Relining Questions We Get Asked All the Time
The things people want to know before committing to a liner, answered the way our plumbers would answer them standing in your yard. If yours is missing, call 0487 037 290.
Is pipe relining cheaper than digging up the pipe?
Usually, once you count everything the dig involves. Excavation is not just the trench: it is the driveway, the paving, the lawn and the reinstatement afterwards, plus the days the yard is out of action. Relining works through an existing access point, so most of that cost disappears. On a shallow pipe in open lawn a dig can be the cheaper option, and we will say so. Either way you get both prices where both are possible.
Do you have to dig up my yard to reline a pipe?
In most cases, no. We work through an existing inspection opening, a boundary trap or an overflow relief gully, so the lawn, the driveway and the paving stay where they are. Sometimes a small access pit has to be dug at one end, and where that is the case we show you exactly where before we quote it. Anything we do open up gets backfilled and tidied under our clean-up guarantee.
Will pipe relining work on my drain?
Most of the time, yes, but the camera decides that and not us. Relining suits earthenware, vitrified clay, PVC and cast iron that is still holding its shape, with cracks, root intrusion, displaced joints or corrosion. It does not suit a pipe that has fully collapsed, because there is nothing left to line against, and it will not correct a section laid with a back-fall. We inspect first, then tell you which of those you have.
How long does pipe relining last?
Longer than the pipe it replaced, which is the honest answer without a number attached. A cured liner is jointless and smooth-walled through the repaired section, so the two things that killed the original pipe, root entry at the joints and corrosion of the wall, are no longer there. We will not quote you a year figure, because it depends on the liner specified, the ground it sits in and what gets flushed down it. What we do put in writing is a lifetime guarantee on our workmanship.
How long does the liner take to cure?
That depends on the liner and the curing method, and it is one of the things our plumbers confirm on the day rather than guess in advance. What matters to you is that the drain cannot be used while the resin is going off, so we agree that window with you before we start. On a home that means planning around one household. On a commercial site it means planning around trading hours.
What standard does pipe relining have to meet in Queensland?
Cured-in-place pipe relining sits under AS/NZS 3500.2:2018, which calls up the WMTS-518 specification. That is where the real numbers live. A structural liner installed below ground with no support from the host pipe has to reach a minimum ring stiffness of 4 kN/m/m. Regulated drainage work also has to be done by a QBCC licensed plumber or drainer under the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018. Ours is licence 15578913.
Do I get to see what is wrong before I pay for anything?
Yes. The CCTV drain camera inspection is free, and you watch the screen with us while it runs. You see the crack, the root mass or the displaced joint in your own pipe, at a measured distance from the access point, before any price is discussed. There is a $0 call-out fee* to get us there. If the pipe turns out to be sound, you have lost nothing.
Not sure whether your drain needs relining?
Describe what the drain is doing and how long it has been doing it. Our team will tell you whether a camera run is worth booking before anyone comes out.
